Good rains to continue in Sindh and Baluchistan, Karachi to stay dry

Rain and thunderstorms have occurred over scattered places of Islamabad, higher areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South Sindh. Isolated places in Quetta, Kalat, Makran and Sahiwal divisions also recorded some spells.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Badin recorded 63 mm of showers, followed by Mirpurkhas 45 mm, Mangla 71 mm, Jhelum 31 mm, Islamabad 16 mm, Malamjabba 13 mm, Peshawar 11 mm, Kakul and Lahore 10 mm and Balakot 5 mm of light showers.

These rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over South Sindh and adjoining Kutch region of India. One more cyclonic circulation is marked over Central Pakistan and adjoining Northwest Rajasthan. Besides this, a Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir.

Further, with the combined effect of these weather systems, rain and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are expected over scattered places of Central Sindh, East Baluchistan, Islamabad and higher areas of Punjab. Gusty winds are also likely to hover over these areas.

Isolated places of Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan, higher areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South Punjab may also record rain and thunderstorm activities.

The weather of Karachi and nearby regions will remain mostly dry, but isolated light rain cannot be ruled out.
