The United States is all set to witness severe weather conditions this week. Right from hurricane Matthew to heavy snowfall in the west, violent weather is in store for several parts of the United States. Not only this, severe weather is also likely to affect the Great Plains in the coming days.

Hurricane Matthew continues to move closer to the United States. However, it is still a little early to depict the impacts of Matthew over Southeast United States. The region may witness torrential showers along with gusty winds due to a direct hit or just a few spells of heavy rains of rain in the coming days.

Hurricane Matthew also poses serious threat to areas including Haiti, the Bahamas along with Cuba. These areas are expected to witness heavy showers along with gusty winds. Chances of flooding over a few areas cannot be ruled out.

The higher elevations in the western parts of the United States may see some snowfall due to a pattern change over the region. For many of these areas, this snowfall is going to be the first of the season. Several areas including the Sierra Nevada and Reno in Nevada have already seen flakes of snow during the weekend.

Wyoming and Montana may also see over a foot of snow as the weather system moves towards the east. A few areas in Denver and Boulder, some snowfall may be observed.

The month of October happens to be the season of severe weather when storms and tornadoes wreak havoc over the region. The Great Plains may witness stormy weather this week. Ferocious weather is expected in areas including Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. The storm could result in tornadoes, hail and damaging winds.
