Portland has been witnessing wintry showers and icy weather for a long time. Though the weather is expected to warm down but layers of ice and snow would not melt that easily.
Temperatures are likely to beat 32°F on Tuesday afternoon but ice storm warning still remain in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday morning also witnessed some freezing rain and was likely to spread up to the city by around 2 p.m. Until Wednesday night, a flood alert also remain in effect for most of the northwest Oregon including southwest Washington as well.
As per the weatherman, the weather will take a couple of days to clear off and it is going to be a slushy mess. Moreover, temperatures did scale above 32°F in the coastal and southern areas of the Willamette Valley and the Cascades. Salem area has also observed rains.
Portland area, on the other hand, has seen temperatures floating between 25°F and 30°F as on Tuesday morning which was predicted to rose up to 32°F by late afternoon particularly in downtown and including the western metro areas.
Areas like Troutdale and Washougal would not see warming temperatures until early Wednesday morning. Though days will witness bright sunshine and sunny days are likely, but forecasters predict for more rains on way to fall on the ground.
Some traces of ice can be expected to accumulate in the western region of the metro city and an inch of snow could be predicted in the eastern region of the city.
Portland and Vancouver area can also witness up to 2 inches of rain to fall through Thursday. Moreover, 3-6 inches of rain is predicted for the northern coast range and Willapa Hills while the South Washington Cascade foothills could see up to 6 inches of wet spells.
The forecasters also predict river rising above the point which might be due to heavy rains combined with snowmelt. Thursday and Friday are still expected to be comparatively warmer as mercury is expected to settle in the mid-40s. Weekend though will be slightly cooler with come showers making their way to the city.
