Thick fog has shrouded the London city on a second consecutive day as well. This has created major travel chaos among the travelers at the Heathrow Airport.

Travel misery was sparked at the airport when it announced cancellation and delaying of several flights. As thick fog blanketed the capital city of the UK, Heathrow Airport canceled around 100 flights out of 1300 flights early Tuesday morning. Moreover, air traffic was also disrupted at the London City Airport, Stansted and Southampton airport and Gatwick airport.

A severe fog warning was issued across all of the England sparing the north-east and southeast Wales. Moreover, 100 flights were canceled on Monday as well in view of persistent thick fog blanket. Due to reduced visibility, the airport has no other options but to cancel the flights.

As per the airport authority, under foggy conditions, the normal pattern of plane landing or taking off in every 45 seconds was not possible hence, the airport had to ground several flights. The airport authority further advised passengers to check the schedule before reaching the airport in order to avoid travel disruptions to their journeys.

Disruptions were also observed on roads when road traffic was affected. Motorists were warned by the Met Department to take extra care while driving on roads particularly after Dorset Police reported 31 collisions on Monday morning. Moreover, journeys are expected to take more than the usual time.

Ferries to and from the Isle of Wight between Lymington and Yarmouth also faced a suspension due to poor visibility and ground touching fog.
