France weather: Unseasonable heat to continue even after Christmas

December 16, 2015 12:25 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Relatively warm weather has persisted for much of December and is likely to continue right throughout the week of Christmas in France. Along with this weather, dry weather is expected across much of France except Northern France which will experience occasional showers.

Early next week, a weak frontal system will cause the first spell of showers across northern and eastern France. This spell of rain will briefly affect the region from Rouen to Paris, Reims, Dijon and Strasbourg. More showers are in store for northern France on Wednesday, as a fast moving frontal system will impact northern and western parts of Paris. The rainfall will be light and will last for a couple of hours.

Meanwhile, dry and warm weather will be persisting across much of central and southern France during the early part of next week. The temperatures will be 3°C to 6°C above normal in places like Toulouse, Marseille and Nice. The high pressure persisting will strengthen and will promote dry and warm weather on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Another storm system might bring light rainfall across the northern coast of France next weekend while the remaining parts of the country will continue to experience warm and dry weather.
