Floods ravage Boca do Acre, Brazil

In a municipality of around 30,000 people, Boca do Acre, 20,000 people have been affected due to flooding caused by the swollen Purus River. Torrential rains has caused floods that has displaced more than hundreds.

Families have been forced to flee their homes and house themselves in emergencies tent. Due to abysmal situation caused by the natural disaster, local authorities have declared a state of emergency in the state. However, more than 30 tons of aid including medicine, food and drinking water have been distributed to flood victims.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, there will be no relief from severe weather as more rains are expected to lash the region during the next 72 hours.

Massive floods had recently ravaged Northern Brazil that affected more than 75,000 people in the city of Rio Branco located in Acre valley.
