Due to such high temperatures, hubs in the southeast are expected to observe temperatures in the mid-30s, with Brisbane headed for a high of 36°C. However, when the southerly change moves through late in the day, the temperatures may drop on Saturday.

According to the forecasters, the expected temperatures are 8-10 degrees above the October average.

The interior parts of Queensland have already recorded very high temperatures this week, with Birdsville setting a new record on Thursday for the hottest October day with a high of 44.7°C. Health experts have urged people to take required precautions as heat-related illness can be fatal, with the young and the seniors particularly at high risk.

This spell of vehement heat is expected to be short-lived followed by a drop in temperatures on Saturday and Sunday.
