Election weather in United Kingdom to be rainy, icy and windy

After the parliament officially dissolving on November 6, the United Kingdom has headed towards the first December elections since the year 1923.

The United Kingdom has been witnessing inclement weather conditions for the past 24 hours and clearance will take some time. With Election day today, it will be interesting to see whether people step out to vote or the weather ends up keeping them at home.

Polls are expected to open at 7 am UK time until 10 pm across Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

There have been some parts which have already seen some blizzard conditions and the band of rain is still moving around and could affect the voting turnout. Scots in particular should watch out as roads will be slippery.

Temperatures overnight have gone to freezing point as well while the day may even see some temperatures below the 5 degree Celsius mark. Yellow warning has already been issued. In fact, Edinburgh and Glassgow have already seen some weather along with which a yellow warning has been issued to people in these areas.

This could even affect travel and health in any case remains a concern for the elderly, in particular.

Here is the region wise forecast for today:

Scotland may see icy and wintry weather as ice and winter rains are expected in many parts of Scotland, Yellow warnings are also in place for some parts.

North East England may also see heavy rains and higher ground is expected to see some sleet or snow as well. Temperatures during the day may settle at 2 degrees Celsius.

East of England is expected to see windy conditions with some rains which may be heavy in some time during the afternoon as well as evening.

South West England is expected to see better conditions with the weather clearing as the day progresses.
