The Northwest has been witnessing pleasant weather conditions for quite some time now. Temperatures have also been on the milder side and stormy weather has been at bay. However, this seems like the calm before a storm.
Heavy rains and gusty winds are expected to lash several parts of the aforementioned areas as well as many parts of Central as well as Northern California. The Bay area will be witnessing its first spell of fall rain. Morning commute will be slowed down as weather conditions are likely to get rainy enough.
Both Friday and Saturday will witness scattered showers rains. Thereafter, during late Saturday, a second system will also affect weather over the region. This system will be a remnant of the once very strong Typhoon Songda which will bring heavy rains over Oregon and southern Washington.
Several areas of the Pacific Northwest will witness torrential showers along with ferocious winds. However, the Bay area will receive rains of a lesser intensity. Chances are that Bay Area forecasters may issue high surf and coastal flood advisories in several parts.
As per the National Weather Service, the Santa Cruz Mountains are expected to witness a spell of prolonged heavy rains. A foot of rain is likely over the Nortwestern California region.
