Dry weather is expected to set in across the soggy state of Texas on Friday sweeping into the Southeast United States by the weekend, thus bringing an end to the flooding rains over the region.

Some parts of Texas have received two to four times more rainfall than its monthly mean during the month of October.

The heavy showers caused flash floods leading to swelling of rivers and reservoirs in the central part of the state. However, this week of dry weather would allow the reservoirs and rivers to recede slowly.

Rain is expected to batter much of the Central Gulf Coast region, including Michael-ravaged areas of Southern Georgia and Florence recovery areas of the Carolinas. This can be attributed to the reminiscence of the Category 5 Hurricane Willa.

The coast of Carolina is also expected to witness locally thunderstorms on Friday that could result in one or two short-lived tornadoes.

In a nutshell, the back edge of the rain and the front edge of the dry air will make a steady progress across Texas and by Saturday, those with football plans in high school and colleges should not have to worry about getting wet over the South.
