A combination of 90°F temperature and a high level of humidity will leave the residents in Midwest USA feel like its 110°F. This sauna-like stretch is, however, likely to continue for another 72 hours after which relief is likely over the weekend.

Dangerous heatwave, where temperatures are likely to touch 100 -110°F, is already looming over parts of Southwest and Central USA. This week, the sweltering weather will engulf much of Midwest as well.

100-degree weather is likely from Oklahoma City to Chicago by Thursday, pushing to the east by the weekend. Residents and travelers are advised to take proper caution against the deadly heatwave as it may affect elderly, children and pets.

Some of the cities that may be affected by soaring temperature include Chicago, Iowa, and St. Louis. Temperature in these cities is likely to settle from the mid-90s to possibly 100 degrees by Thursday. Even the night temperature will remain high in 70s.

A heat dome situation where high pressure in the upper atmosphere acts as a lid, preventing hot air from escaping has been developing in several areas of Midwest. The air is forced to sink back to the surface, warming even further on the way.

In Wichita, Oklahoma City and Dallas, temperatures around 100 degrees will feel more like 110. Lows overnight could be near 80 degrees.
