Christmas Day is just a week away and weather across Sydney seems to play hide seek with Australia’s beautiful city. Just a few days back, the city was bracing for hot weather and had witnessed the hottest night of the season and here again, the weather pattern seems to take a U-turn.
As per the Bureau of Meteorology, if the Sydneysiders are expecting for a warm Christmas weekend, they might be disappointed. The weatherman claims that people residing in the city or anywhere in the country’s southeast should keep an umbrella handy as the weather is expected to get wet.
Chances of rain lashing parts of the city persist during the Christmas weekend. In fact, the Harbor City is one of the most probable cities that may get thrashed by possible showers along with a storm then moving towards NSW, Victoria, and Tasmania.
The reason for these showers can be attributed to a low-pressure system prevailing in the Tasman Sea which means there are chances of some good showers on Christmas Eve and on the day. Though there are more chances of rain in the city’s east, however, rest of the city may also witness some rains.
Though Christmas Day is likely to be warm with temperatures expected to settle between 18°C and 27°C. The prevailing weather will be pretty close to the average for the city that falls between 17.5 degrees to a maximum of 25.2 degrees.
Along with some rains, chances of a storm cannot be denied as well. The city may witness some thunderstorms from 5 pm onward. The nonappearance of sea breeze would lead to any storms could move across the city and hit the coast.
As per the Meteorological records, last Christmas for the city was also hot with the maximums settling at 25°C.
Furthermore, January is also expected to stay warm.
