Blustery winds are likely to bring cool air across the Great Lakes through Tuesday. These conditions will also spread southeastward from Minnesota to Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
There are possibilities that gusts could reach up to 25 to 35 mph. Compared to mild conditions in the recent weeks, the gusts will stir up waves across much of the Great Lakes. In fact, there will a zone around western Lake Superior, where gusts could reach up to 55 mph.
As per weather experts, the combination of gusty winds and waterlogged trees and tree limbs can cause random power blackouts.
Subsequent peak winds are possible over Green Bay in Wisconsin, Traverse City in Michigan and Chicago into Monday evening, and then these windy conditions will expand to Cleveland, Detroit and Buffalo in New York on Tuesday.
In the wake of a cold front, cool conditions are expected to persist, sending temperatures stumbling 5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit below average. Temperatures will mostly range from the middle 50s to middle 60s over much of Michigan, Wisconsin, northwestern Ohio and northern Illinois and Indiana into Tuesday.
Moreover, where the gusty winds are combined with clouds and lake-effect showers, temperatures are likely to dip into the upper 40s and lower 50s.
As a relief, the windy weather will usher in much drier air. This drier weather pattern will let streams and rivers to retreat in the upcoming days.
Fewer gusts are likely to move into the western Great Lakes from Wednesday into Thursday. Moist windy conditions are likely to continue across the central and eastern Great Lakes and spread up to the Northeast for the second half of the week.
