Cool blast to bring winter rain in Germany

A blast of cool air will affect Germany this week. This will result in wintry showers across much of the country.

With the influx of cool air central and northern Germany will be affected by wintry showers on Wednesday and Thursday. These showers will generally be short and there will be no snow accumulation. A thin layer of snow at few places cannot be ruled out.

These wintry showers will affect places like HamburgFrankfurt, Berlin and Dresden. The precipitation will be a mix of rain and snow during the day time and mainly snowfall during the night. The minimum temperatures will plunge to sub-zero levels across the region. This will result in freezing of rainwater on the roads, leading to slippery and dangerous travel conditions.

All this is attributed to a southward dip in the Jet Stream. Further to the south, places like Stuttgart and Munich are likely to remain dry on Wednesday and Thursday. Maximum temperature for both the locations will be close to 5°C and the minimum temperature will be close to -1°C. The chilly weather will linger on till Friday across much of Germany but conditions will turn dry.
