This weekend, the entire Northeastern US is expected to witness the coldest air of the season. A cold winds will start moving southwards on Friday making the temperatures to dip well below normal for the weekend.
The weatherman said, “A brisk northwest wind will bring an early December-like chill to the Northeast this weekend.” The maximum temperature in New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., is expected to be 10°F below normal. The cold winds are expected to be string in nature which will make it feel even colder.
Resident over the area will require woollen clothing to save them from cold weather on Saturday. In interior portions of the Northeast the temperatures will fall well below normal on Saturday morning.
With the Great Lakes in the path of the cold winds, the chances of cloud cover and rain and snow in some parts can be expected. "This setup will be conducive for lake-effect rain and snow showers," the weatherman said.
From Friday night, light rain can be expected with chances of snow at lower elevations away from the immediate lakeshore. The temperatures will fall below freezing allowing most of the areas to see snow showers.
"In the higher elevations of Pennsylvania and New York state, precipitation may stay in the form of snow all day Saturday. Near- to above-average temperatures will return early next week." the weatherman said.
Temperatures will recover a bit on Sunday afternoon in the mid-Atlantic.
