Climate change: Pollution is heating land faster than oceans

In a study revealed by a California-based university, stated that while climate change is warming the oceans, it is further warming the land much faster. According to report, this study was published on February 4, 2019 in Natural Climate Change.

The study basically presented a contrast in warming between the continents and sea, called as land-sea warming contrast. This also drives an increased concentration of aerosols in the atmosphere.

Reportedly, aerosols are tiny solid particles or liquid droplets suspended in the air. They are mostly attained from natural sources, like dust or wildfires, or human-made sources such as vehicle and industrial emanations.

Aerosols also affect the climate system, along with disturbances to the water cycle and human health. These aerosols also cause smog which further leads to health problems for people, animals, and plants.

Author Robert Allen said that a healthy response to an increase in greenhouse gases is that the land will be warming up faster than the ocean. He also added that, this improved land warming is also linked with increased continental aridity, which would further lead to lower cloud cover and less rain.

Therefore, the results show that the warmer Earth gets, the tougher it's going to be to keep air pollution down to a certain level without strict control over the sources of aerosols.
