China Landslide buries 33 buildings, 91 missing

A massive landslide struck the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on Sunday. This landslide led to massive destruction and more 90 people are still missing. Among the missing are around 59 men and 32 women as of now. No deaths have been reported so far. At least 13 people have been hospitalized and out of them three are in serious condition.

According to authorities the landslide buried 33 buildings of the industrial park in Shenzhen which is a major manufacturing center in the Guangdong province region. An area of six hectares has been covered in mud. According to authorities more than 900 people have been evacuated and almost 1500 people are involved in the rescue efforts. The residential facility next to the industrial park has also been damaged.

Rapid industrialisation and poor safety standards are considered as the main cause of this landslide.
