Chilly weather along with snow likely to hammer northeast U.S.

The northeastern United States is expected to witness tumbling temperatures during the first half of this week.

After witnessing a frosty weekend, much cooler air mass is expected to lash the region on Wednesday. As per the weatherman, much more icy high pressure system can be expected to develop across the Great Lakes including the eastern Ohio Valley through the northeast.

The maximums are likely to dip approximately 5 to 10 Fahrenheit below the normal on Wednesday. Across New York, the maximums are expected to settle from upper 30s to mid-40°F. While across the New England, maximum temperatures may settle in upper 40°F and in upper 50°F across the mid-Atlantic.

There are a few areas in the mid-Atlantic which have not witnessed chilly weather this season and these areas could also observe frost through the mid-week.

The chilly weather will be escorted by windy conditions which can result in trembling trees and power outages at some parts.

Though possibility of a mild sunny weather can also be expected across parts of upstate New York and northern New England. Winds blended with torrential showers along with some wet snow can also make an appearance from Tuesday into Wednesday.

Snowfall amounting to approximately 2 inches across the mountain peaks is also possible. A storm system moving from eastward can also possibly bring in some more snow to the northern areas. Gusty winds along with high elevation snow and hefty rains can be seen moving across the region.

On Saturday as well, 1 to 3 inches of snow fell was observed across the Adirondacks, Berkshires and Catskills.
