Central US to experience combination of snow, wind, rain

November 14, 2016 10:43 AM | Skymet Weather Team

A multifarious storm is likely to hit the Central United States. This will conclude the prevalent mild weather during late next week.

The storm is expected to produce snow and cold air over parts of the interior West during next week and then will move toward the Northern Plains next Thursday and Friday.

The impact of precipitation, either it will be in the form of rain or snow, entirely depends on the amount of moisture the storm can pull in.

In fact, snow could extend up to the High Plains of Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas and into Northern Minnesota, as well as areas farther to the northeast in Canada.

Where the storm is expected to be robust, will determine whether snow is possible as far south as Colorado and Nebraska.

Strong winds in some areas of the Plains and the Upper Midwest may reach up to 40-50 mph.

The combination of stiff winds and increasing dry conditions may even raise the risk of bush fires over parts of the Plains.

As the storm, will move farther to the east across the South-Central states, Great Lakes and Ohio Valley, rainfall is likely to occur over the region.

Freezing air rotating around the storm will spread across the Northern Plains and into the Midwest during next weekend.
