The year 2016 may have ended without a white Christmas, however, the New Year 2017 has started with one of the coldest snaps Britain has faced so far. The temperatures have plummeted to -8°C in Britain and they are expected to further drop to -6°C next week.
Several parts in UK have witnessed the coldest day in January so far. Sub-zero temperatures and bone-chilling cold winds have made commuting difficult in north of England.
Ferocious blizzard and icy roads are likely to remain a constant feature for next few days while it is likely to remain cold until the end of January with persistent northeasterly gales. Temperatures for rest of the month are most likely to remain well below than the normal.
According to weathermen, weather is likely to improve slightly over the weekend with temperatures nudging close to double digits, however, another cold snap will bring snowfall early next week, making cold weather miserable.
Early mornings will be the coldest and temperature at night will be feel like -2°C in several areas.
Britain is facing the worst winter blast since the shockers of 2010 and 2011 when heavy snow, sub-zero temperatures and ice grounded the country to a near standstill.
