The mercury seems to be rising above normal levels in Southeast Queensland. Temperatures are expected to soar this week, with maximum touching 34°C in Brisbane today.
In general, high temperatures will remain around 33°C in most parts of Southeast Queensland. According to the Australian weather bureau, this could come as a "shock to the system".
These temperatures are not far above the averages for this time of year but will definitely come as a shock. Courtesy, cooler than usual temperatures in Brisbane over the past week. Even though the day maximums are just a couple of degrees above average, it will be noticeable. The weather bureau will be monitoring the temperatures for possible heat wave conditions.
These hotter than usual temperatures are coming in from central Queensland. The hot westerly winds will move inland and eventually arrive in Southeast and other parts of Queensland.
We are still in the midst of one of the strongest El Nino and the high temperatures being experienced in central Queensland could be in line with El Nino.
