Blizzard weather condition lashes London; creates traffic chaos

Snowstorms have brushed Britain, including the capital city that too witnessed blizzard weather conditions. Parts of the UK was predicted to witness 20 cm of snow.

Londoners were mostly seen sheltering under brollies after a severe weather warning was issued for the UK particularly for the capital city. London, despite witnessing relief from the rail strikes, still come to a standstill after it was forecast to witness snowy wintry spells starting from Thursday evening.

Snow occurred over parts of South London which include areas like Kingston, Croydon, and Bromley after the hectic hours began. Wintry flurries were also observed in parts of north and West London. Hampstead, Muswell Hill, Islington and West Brompton also witnessed the winter outbreaks during the late evening.

The Meteorological Department of the country had already issued a warning of a severe wintry chill along with snowy showers to make way towards London from 5 pm (local timing).

Though the snow did not settle on grounds, yet it created travel chaos for the passengers. Air and tube traffic were badly affected. As the Canary Wharf station submerged under flooding water, people commuting through tube experienced delays. Moreover, at waterloo, rail passengers were wedged up with a huge troop.

After the snow and windy forecast was in place, close to 80 flights at the Heathrow Airport were canceled. Besides, four flights at the Gatwick Airport were also impacted and were annulled.
