It was after the severe storm hit hard in the state overnight, almost one-fifth of South Australian properties were left without power.
The gale force winds led to power outages in thousands of properties. As per the weatherman, several houses and businesses are expected to remain without electricity until Thursday with a severe weather that has caused power outages across the state on Tuesday night.
The residue of the tropical weather system that crossed Australia from the Pilbara is said to be the real reason for power outages in more than 115,000 homes.
The main outburst of electricity basically took place between Port Augusta and Cape Jervis though not sparing Adelaide metropolitan area and the Adelaide Hills.
The Meteorological Department claims that the highest wind gusts in the state were observed at Mount Crawford which saw the gales speeding at 120 km/h. Winds gusting at a speed of 96 km/h were witnessed at Port Augusta.
The destructive winds also knocked down trees, poles and drowned wires. The main reason behind making Adelaide the third wettest December day on records can be well attributed to the intensive tropic low that came down from central Australia.
However, as of now, the low pressure can be seen moving southeast and is expected to reach Mount Gambier.
As per the weatherman, the gusty gales are expected to lower down though showers are still likely to continue for Adelaide churning into thunderstorms. Temperatures in Sydney is however expected to soar to 40°C, stimulating itself for a three-day heat wave.
