Biggest snow storm of season to throttle Central United States, dangerous travel conditions likely

After Northwest Pacific witnessing rounds of snow and rain, a winter storm is expected to dump significant amount of snow in central parts of the United States. Therefore, cities of Chicago and Oklahoma City may also see some snowfall.

Winter storm is expected to affect areas right from Illinois to West Texas. Denver saw some snow and temperatures dropped down to single digits there. Salt Lake City recorded 8.6 inches of snow, which was more than the February 1936 record of 7 inches.

Colder air has started to affect the southeastern parts which will further result in moderate to heavy snow. Cities of Missouri, Detroit, Oklahoma, Chicago and Columbia may see snowfall from 3 to 6 inches. This upcoming storm may even be the biggest snowstorm.

Travel chaos is expected as major areas and airports will be seeing snow and rains. Travel in Oklahoma City and St. Louis could be worse today.

Chicago and Detroit may see slippery conditions because of snow. Moreover, if road conditions are poor, schools may see closure. Due to the storm track, northwest and southeastern regions could also see heavy snowfall. In fact, a couple of inches of snow may also be seen in the Great Lakes and Mississippi Valley region.

Freezing rain and sleet could be also seen in parts with temperatures dipping. In fact, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Tulsa, Springfield may see icy conditions. Slow and dangerous travel conditions are expected in many parts.
