The San Francisco Bay Area has been hit by one of the strongest rain storms in quite a long time on Thursday. So much so that at least 350 mm of rainfall was recorded in a town in North Bay in a mere 24 hours.
More than 120 flights have been cancelled to and from the San Francisco Airport. Not only this, more than 350 flights have suffered delays ranging from minutes to hours at the Airport. As the storm moved from North Bay to SFO, the worst hit area was Venado, which happens to lie close to Healdsburg.
More than an inch of rainfall has also been recorded in San Francisco, in a span of 24 hours. Parts of Sierra Nevada witnessed rains between 60 mm and 150 mm in the aforementioned time. Flood warnings were issued in many parts.
In San Francisco, high tides resulted in streets in Embarcadero to be flooded. Flood warnings were also issued in areas including Napa, Sonoma, and Marin. Several trees came down in parts of Pacifica.
Not only this, Los Angeles was also not spared from the rain storm fury and moderate to heavy rains were recorded in this area as well. Mill Valley also witnessed flooding conditions.
Traffic was barely moving and the residents were stuck in Traffic Jams in San Francisco and Oakland. Several inches of rains were observed in many parts of the Bay Area.
