Bangladesh and Pakistan receive good rainThe Western Disturbance which has moved over the eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir has given good amounts of rain over North and Central Pakistan during the last 24 to 48 hours. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Kakul received 15 mm of rain, Murree (10 mm), and Parachinar 5 mm of rain.

Now, a cyclonic circulation is over North Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan. Also, another Western Disturbance is approaching, which is presently over Afghanistan and adjoining North Pakistan. Both these systems together will give moderate to heavy rain over northern parts of Pakistan including Islamabad, Jhelum, Lahore, Peshawar, Sarvoda and Kakul for the next 48 hours. However, South Pakistan will remain dry.

Rain in Bangladesh

Bangladesh too has observed good rain at several places. Some of the cities in the country have observed heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Feni observed 174 mm of rain, Hatia (143 mm), Comilla (114 mm), and Cox’s Bazar recorded 109 mm of rain.

Heavy rain in Bangladesh has occurred due to a cyclonic circulation which was over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal. This system has now moved inland and presently lies over the Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Bihar and Jharkhand. Now, as the system moves towards the west, moisture laden winds which were giving rain over this region will get diverted towards East India.
