Adelaide has literally seen the worse of the summers, and well, temperatures today say that the worst is not over yet. Probably, the worst is yet to come. With 46.6 degrees Celsius, Adelaide has today seen the hottest day ever recorded.
Moreover, Adelaide weather has become so hot at this point that several records have been broken in the southern parts of Australia. It is the second heatwave hitting in the past few weeks, wreaking havoc over the nation.
A pub in the suburbs had promised free beer in case of temperatures rising above 45 degrees by 1 pm, and guess what, there was a long queue of people asking for their free beers. Port Augusta also broke its all time record with temperature settling at a whopping 49.5 degrees Celsius. Local authorities in central and western Australia, had to carry out an emergency animal cull, which resulted in shooting 2,500 camels and hundred feral horses as they were dying of thirst. At least 17 records have been broken with temperatures being recorded as follows: Port Lincoln (47C), Minnipa (47.3), Sternhouse Bay (45.6C), and Snowtown (47.3C). Heatwaves have become a common affair in Australia and the Bureau of Meteorology blaming it all on Climate Change. Twitter had an interesting reaction towards it, check out what they had to say:
Thursday's temperatures north of Adelaide touched 49.6C, breaking records set in 1939. Friday will come as something of a relief. Phil pic.twitter.com/FTBnVnIVeN — BBC Weather (@bbcweather) January 24, 2019

Adelaide’s hottest day. How hot does it have to get before the current government does something on climate change? pic.twitter.com/W2cfBfbdcV

Straight outta the gate, Adelaide Zoo have been kind enough to send through some photos of how their animals have been handling the heat this last week and they seem to have the right idea. #Adelaide pic.twitter.com/mWlKQUKNXW
