Rain in Karachi to take a backseat, dry week ahead

Updated on Sep 1, 2019: After seeing some good rains, rainfall activity was confined to parts including Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Kalat, Malakand divisions in the last 24 hours. Isolated pockets of Karachi, Sukkur, Multan saw very light rainfall.

Now, hot and humid weather is expected to persist in most parts of the country. The city of Karachi will also see dry weather conditions wherein rainfall activity will only be seen over isolated pockets of Multan, Bahawalpur, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Kohat, and Zhob divisions.

Rainfall activity in Karachi will pick up pace only around September 7, until then, weather will remain dry.

Published on Aug 29, 2019: The city of Karachi had been witnessing dry weather conditions for the past few days. However, rainfall activities have made an appearance over Karachi and adjoining areas of Pakistan.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, While North Karachi saw 55 mm of rains, Jinnah Terminal in Karachi recorded 42 mm, Thatta saw 83 mm of rainfall, Islamkot 61 mm, Badin 39 mm, Tandojam 38 mm, Hyderabad 25 mm, Diplo 23 mm, Rohri 17 mm, Kaloi 15 mm, Noorpur Thal 30 mm, and Lasbella 21 mm.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rainfall activity is likely to continue today as well in many parts of Pakistan, particularly the Sindh region. Moreover, rains are expected to be seen tomorrow as well.

Thereafter, rainfall activity in Karachi will take a backseat with the city witnessing dry weather conditions for some time. This will be the time when temperatures will see an increase over the city of Karachi with days being slightly uncomfortable.

Rainfall activity in Karachi will make a comeback around September 7. During this time, some moderate showers may once again be observed over the city of Karachi and adjoining areas in view of a Low Pressure Area which will give heavy rains over Gujarat.
