Hurricane Maria has battered parts of the Dominica with hefty rain and strong winds. Thereafter, the storm passed the region’s east coast after hitting Puerto Rico resulting in flash flooding and power cuts. Maria has killed at least 10 people as it smoldered through the Caribbean region.
The monster storm had ripped roofs off buildings on the island country of Dominica. Seven people have been reported dead and the figure is expected to hike when the searches resume at dawn.

On Wednesday, when Maria hit Puerto Rico, it was ranked a Category 4 storm, with sustained winds of up to 155 miles per hour. It is the strongest storm to have hit the United States territory in nearly 90 years. It tore roofs from buildings, shattered power lines and turned roads into deluges with debris as it cut a diagonal swath across the island.
The entire island of 3.4 million people was under a flash flood warning early on Thursday as the storm was forecast to lash much of Puerto Rico with 20 to 30 inches of rain through Friday.
Forecasters said it is too early to track how close Maria will move to the U.S. mainland, but it looks like it will stay in the open waters of the Atlantic and continue to create suspense regarding its next target.
