Central Italy was again jolted by another earthquake of magnitude of 5.0 on Richter scale in the early hours of Thursday. The areas that were trembled by today’s earthquake were the same as last weeks, claims the US Geological Survey.

All thanks to the almighty that the quake which struck Italy at 1:35 am (0035 GMT) was low, 10 km deep, centered approximately 51 km southeast of Perugia.

The epicenter of the temblor was located in Pieve Torina (Macerata) at a depth of 8km which rated 4.8, as per the findings of The National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV).

The upheaval were felt particularly in the Marche region, center-east Italy, spreading to the major city of Ancona on the Adriatic Sea. Till now, there were no reports of any emergency situations yet the areas will be thoroughly checked for the first lights.

Prior to this, Italy has already felt two earthquakes recently, one being on Sunday itself. It was after 36 years that Italy felt the biggest shocks on October 26 with a quake measuring 5.5 and recently on Sunday with a 6.6 magnitude tremblor.

Moreover, Sunday’s earthquake abridged historic cities and towns in the Apennine Mountains, displacing 15,000 people. The areas that witnessed worst shocks because of quakes were Umbria, Marche, and parts of rural Lazio whereas, Amatrice was flattened by an earthquake in the month of August, taking lives of approximately 300 people.

Though a magnitude 5.0 tremor is considered moderate but possibilities of causing considerable injury cannot be completely ruled out.
