World Environment Day: Simple Ways to Protect the Environment

How many people have you come across who actually do something about environment protection? All of us want to do something or the other to protect our planet but all of us are too lazy to actually make an effort. But if you come to think of it, taking baby steps to protect your environment is not a very difficult job after all. We bring you ways through which you can protect your environment.

The first and the foremost rule of protecting the environment is recycling. Everything that can be recycled, must be recycled. Whether it is paper, glass, metal or plastic, every material that you no longer need must be recycled. Don’t throw unused material around, you don’t want to harm the environment even further.

Water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink. It’s true. If you need to protect the environment, you have to make sure that not even a drop of water is wasted, let alone galleons. Take shorter showers. Don’t waste water while taking a bath. Also, when you are drinking water, don’t throw the amount left in the glass, water your plants instead.

Whenever you leave the room, make sure all the lights, fans and air conditioners are switched off. Also, do not leave your cellphone or laptop chargers plugged in when not in use. Keep the television switched off when you do not need it. These little things can make a huge difference. Follow these steps.

Instead of buying vegetables from outside, grow fruits and vegetables at home if you do have the resources. If not, make sure you only buy vegetables and fruits from local street vendors. Supermarkets have fruits and veggies that have picked weeks before being sold to you.

Lastly, if you do have space around your house, plant as many saplings as you can. This is the best way to protect and nurture the environment. On World Environment Day, pledge to yourself to make this world a greener and a cleaner place to live in.
