Japan Space Exploration Agency (JAXA) has devised a technology to transfer energy wirelessly from space. If a satellite is put in the orbit with large solar panels, it will collect the energy from the sun without any worry of a cloudy day and filtration through the atmosphere.
Once the energy is collected, a converter on the satellite will convert the energy into microwaves and transfer to a receiving station on the Earth through a gigantic microwave antenna with 80% efficiency. It will generate about 1 Gigawatt of electricity, which is enough to power 500,000 homes and in turn it can completely replace a nuclear power plant.
