The US space agency, NASA is quite famous for capturing stunning images of the Earth from a million miles away. Similarly, its remarkable EPIC camera has taken a picture of three developing lows in the Indian from a great distance.
NASA’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera aka EPIC flies aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory satellite. According to NASA, in the next 24 to 48 hours, two of these three weather systems are likely to develop into tropical depression.
The one system in the Arabian Sea known as 94A has already intensified into a well-marked low pressure area and has moved away from the Indian Coast. The system will most likely develop into a depression in the next two to three days.
Another system in the Bay of Bengal known as 93 B is a low pressure area now and is likely to gain strength. The system will now develop into a well-marked low pressure area further intensifying into a depression in the next three days or so. On the other hand, system 92S appears to be a larger system and looks extended to an extent.
The DISCOVR spacecraft orbits around 1 million miles from the Earth. NASA’s EPIC is used to measure cloud height, UV radiation estimates, aerosols, etc.
