Most of South America to witness ‘ring of fire’ solar eclipse today

Solar Eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon which one shall not miss if the viewing conditions help, especially when the eclipse has a chance of showing up as a ‘ring of fire’. From the looks of it, most countries of South America will be above to witness the special wonder today evening.

The moon is likely to pass directly between the Earth and the sun on Sunday, leading to a spectacular solar eclipse across South America.

The eclipse will start after 09:10am CLST (Chile Standard Time) along the western coast of South America in Chile. Later on the spread of the eclipse will move towards east. The eclipse in South America will end at 01:30pm in northeastern Brazil. Many areas of West Africa will be able to enjoy the nature’s spectacle before the sunset on Sunday.

The moon will come between the Earth and Sun but it will not completely block out the entire sun. The moon will leave little room for the sun to pop out making a ‘ring of fire’. Citizens living in the southern parts of Chile and Argentina will be able to witness full show of the eclipse. Areas like Laguna San Rafael National Park in Chile and the Argentina communities that line the San Jorge Gulf.

Some clouds will be seen over San Jorge Gulf and its coastal communities, such as Comodoro Rivadavia. However, much of southern Argentina will have mostly clear skies which will promote ample viewing of the eclipse.
