The tenth edition of the Earth Hour 2017 was successfully completed yesterday. March 25, 2017 completed a decade of the foundation of the global initiative Earth Hour for raising awareness regarding the environmental issues and supporting the action for climate change.
Between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm yesterday, several landmarks across the globe turned off their lights showing support for the cause. Millions of people had plunged into darkness for an hour so that the event could become a huge success.
As per reports, 172 countries in which 7000 cities were participants of the Earth Hour 2017. Right from the India Gate to the Eiffel Tower, several landmarks had turned out the lights showing support for the cause.
Not only this, the Big Ben, Pyramids of Egypt, Burj Khalifa, Houses of Parliament, Colosseum, the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Mumbai’s Victoria Terminus, Petronas Towers, Kremlin in Moscow, the Acropolis in Athens and several others remained dark for an hour.
The initiative was introduced by the World Wildlife Fund in the year 2007. Now, after ten years, the Earth Hour has become the largest movement for environment across the globe. While the world turned out the lights yesterday, were you one of them?
