An asteroid approximately 100 feet in diameter will pass close to the Earth on March 5. However, there is no chance of this small asteroid of disturbing the peace of Planet Earth.
As per NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the asteroid will be as far away as 9,000-17,000 km from the Earth. The asteroid with the name 2013 “TX68” will continue to pass close to the Earth posing no threat or damage to our beloved planet.
This asteroid was first spotted in the year 2013 and was visible for three days. The one point to be noted is that this rocky object will get way closer to the Earth than the moon has ever been able to. In September 2017, the asteroid will once again be close to the Earth followed by flybys in the years 2046 and 2097 causing no effect on the Earth.
According to NASA, there is only a one in a 250 million chance to cause any impact on the Earth during its next pass, which is on September 28, 2017. The size of this asteroid is twice the size of the one that affected Russia in 2013.
The asteroid that hit Chelyabinsk, Russia 3 years ago, had not only destroyed buildings but it had also lefty more than 1000 people injured. NASA also said that if a 100-foot-wide asteroid ever hit the Earth, the consequences would be far worse than that in Russia.
