Indian farmers had sown wheat on 24.19 million ha across the states, 3.7% lower from the 25.13 million hectares acreage of the crop in the year ago period, latest agriculture ministry data showed. Higher than usual temperature and late onset of the winter season have delayed sowing of wheat crop, which is sensitive to temperature.
