Estimates compiled by Bloomberg say wheat output is likely to fall 5 per cent to 84.5 million metric tonnes in India in the year through June from a year earlier. The estimated figure is the lowest since 2009-10 during which India produced 80.8 million tonnes. However, the government’s estimated target is 94.8 million tonnes.
