Presently turmeric crop is in the vegetative stage in key producing states like Maharashtra, Karanataka and Andhra Pradesh. Erode, Sangli and Nizambad are the major turmeric markets in India. Hybrid turmeric prices increased at Erode spot markets by Rs 400 per quintal on account of upcountry orders, according to the traders.
