Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka are the major sugarcane producing states in India. As per the reports received from States to Agriculture Ministry, India’s total sugarcane planted area in 2015-16 as on 26th June, stands at 41.58 lakh hectares as compared to 43.52 at this time last year.
