Sugarcane crushing has picked up in the key producing states in India. In Uttar Pradesh, the largest sugarcane producing state in the country, 60 out of 124 sugar mills have started crushing operations. The outlook for sugar is bearish as there is higher production, no export and stable domestic consumption, according to the traders.
