International Sugar Organization (ISO) projected a global sugar deficit of 2 to 2.5 million tonnes in 2015-2016, heralding the beginning of a new deficit phase in the world sugar cycle. International Sugar Organization said global sugar consumption had been rising at an average annual rate of 1.95 percent, equating to around 3.5 million tonnes a year.
