Sugarcane| Indian Sugar output in 2016-17 crop year may fall to around

Indian Sugar output in 2016-17 crop year may fall to around 23.3 mt, down from 25.1 mt in 2015-16 as two back to back drought in the country has reduced sugarcane production. Indian consumption for the year is around 26 mt. Currently country has around 7.0 million of sugar stock and to fill the supply demand gap it may draw down 2.7 mt from stocks.
