In Uttar Pradesh, 118 sugar mills have produced 2.5 million tonnes, compared to 1.97 million tonnes produced last year by 119 sugar mills. 173 sugar mills were operating in Maharashtra which produce 4.3 million tonnes of sugar, as compared to 3.1 million tonnes of sugar produced by 154 mills during the same period last year.
