Cuban farmers spent January slogging through mud to harvest cane with low sugar yields as unseasonal rain and heat dashed hopes of equaling last year's output. AZCUBA, the state-run sugar monopoly, had already reduced growth plans due to a severe drought last year but still hoped to equal 1.9 million tonnes produced during the 2014-2015.
