China imported 369,189 tonnes of raw sugar in June 2016 up by 54% from the same time a year ago. China is the world's largest sugar buyer. However, imports for the first six months were down by 43% to 1.3 million tonnes year-on-year. China's sugar imports hit a record in 2015 but have slowed this year as global prices climbed sharply.
