Brazil's main centre-south cane belt will produce 35.2 million tonnes of sugar in 2016-17, up from an estimated 31.38 million tonnes in 2015-16, supported by more favourable weather than last season, consultancy Datagro said. Cane industry specialist had estimated 2016-17 center-south sugar production at 33.8 million tonnes.
