Brazil's center-south cane region produced 118,000 tonnes of sugar in the second half of December, down sharply from 371,000 tonnes in the first half of the month. Sugar output in the region, which accounts for 90 percent of Brazil's cane production, was just 54 percent of what was produced in the same two-week period a year ago.
