As per the reports received from the States to Agriculture Ministry of the country, India’s total sugarcane planted area in 2015-16 as on 17th July, stands at 44.80 lakh hectares as compared to 46.09 lakh hectares in 2014-15 at the same time. Major sugarcane producing states in the country are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat.
