As per the Govt. data, Area under Sugarcane has jumped by 4.8% to 45.8 lakh ha as on last week versus 43.7 lakh hectares at the same time last year. Acreages in Maharashtra and Karnataka is reported lower by 7.2% and 3% respectively. However it is reported higher from last year in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh
